C Major Triad Fingering

Root note: C
Major 3rd: E
Perfect 5th: G

1st Inversion: E-G-C
2nd Inversion: G-C-E

You’ll notice that all first inversion triads in the key of C share the fingering 1-2-5. This is because the distance between the two top notes – in this case, the G and the C – requires the wide span of fingers 2 and 5. The use of finger 3 creates an awkward hand position for most people.
