Suspended 4th Piano Chords

◊ Perfect Fifth: B

A suspended 4th chord differs from a major or minor chord in that its third has been removed and replaced by a perfect fourth. If the third and fourth are both present, the chord is an add4:

• E^ADD4: E – G♯ – A – B


• Em^ADD4: E – G – A – B

Note that a sus4 chord also doubles as an inversion of a sus2. For example, the first inversion of the E^sus4 triad (A – B – E) is the root position of A^sus2.
