An augmented seventh chord is an augmented triad (which has a root note, a major third, and an augmented fifth) with a seventh interval added above the root:
◊ Augmented Minor 7th
A C♯aug7 has an added minor seventh: C♯ – E♯ – Gx* – B
• (commonly referred to as simply an augmented seventh chord; in
jazz, a “seventh sharp five”)
◊ Augmented Major 7th
A C♯+M7 has an added major seventh: C♯ – E♯ – Gx – B♯
• (also called a “major seventh sharp five”)
