Many Instruments In One!

Wednesday March 26, 2008
One of the fascinating things about the piano is the variety of ways in which it can be played. First it's a melody instrument, then percussion, then strings, and sometimes even a harp. The word for playing notes in rapid succession -- "arpeggio" -- means to play in the manner of a harp. Like so many musical terms that we take for granted these days, it's an Italian word, just like the word piano.

You can learn more about arpeggios and how to play them by checking out my How To Play Arpeggios On The Piano article.
